Welcome to SAIA - Student Accommodation Industry Association

The Student Accommodation Industry Association (SAIA) is a Queensland based Peak Industry Body to champion the interests of its members and liaise with Government on matters affecting the Student Accommodation industry. The Association provides regular updates on current developments in the industry to help keep members abreast of new information concerning the industry as it comes to hand. The key objective for the Association is to provide education and raise awareness across the industry to balance the needs of its members with the interests of the broader community. Importantly, the Association aims to ensure that students residing in Australia have a positive experience whilst studying here. The major areas of focus are:

Greater education and raising awareness of its members
Planning strategy, development and building controls - to foster a stronger working relationship with Government and industry regulators on matters affecting the student accommodation industry that promotes greater certainty to members;
Residential tenancies legislation – a rational regulatory framework to govern the relationship between lessors and lessees; and
Operational management – a deeper understanding of various operational issues and implications affecting members.

The Association's activities include:

public policy advocacy
provision of relevant industry information; and
networking opportunities for members

The Association's vision is:

to establish a sound environment to effectively support, monitor and maintain high standards of safety and amenity for both the students as well as the broader community: and
to ensure student's have a positive experience while studying and living in Brisbane.

The Association is pleased to be working with both Local and State Government in relation to protecting and enhancing the student accommodation offering for Brisbane. The Association intends to continue to work with Government in order to effectively support, monitor and uphold high standards of safety and amenity for student accommodation in Brisbane so as to fulfil the student's desire to have a positive experience while studying in Brisbane.
